Job Description

Trucks, drivers, loads and deadlines all meet on your screen at a distribution depot in Umhlanga. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

Location: Umhlanga, KwaZulu-Natal. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first. Start is planned for the beginning of next month.

What you'll actually do

Book vehicle services, licence renewals and roadworthy tests
Phone drivers when trucks stop too long or go off-route
Plan daily loads to use full truck capacity
Check driver hours so nobody drives too long without rest
Arrange breakdown recovery and replacement vehicles

You'll need

Calm and decisive when things go wrong
Able to work shifts in a 24-hour control office
At least 2 years in transport or logistics
Good with Excel and email
Clear on the phone with drivers and customers
