Job Description

You'll plant, prune and fell trees for a fire protection association in the hills near Durban Central. It's the kind of job where doing the basics well every day gets you noticed.

You'll be based at a fire protection association in Durban Central. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps.

What you'll actually do

Plant seedlings in prepared pits at the right spacing
Apply herbicide around young trees as instructed
Fell, debranch and cross-cut trees with a chainsaw
Clear and maintain firebreaks during the dry season
Feed logs into sawmill machines and stack planks

Must-haves

Valid ID
Willing to work in remote areas
Available for early starts and fire-season standby
Passes the medical check for fire crews

Nice if you have

Chainsaw operator certificate
Previous plantation or sawmill experience
Fire fighting training
