Job Description

Hard, outdoor work on a sawmill near Lephalale, with training on chainsaws and fire safety. This is a good step for someone who wants proper routine and a manager who notices good work.

You'll report in Lephalale. Relocation is not covered for this one.

The work, day to day

Fell, debranch and cross-cut trees with a chainsaw
Fight veld fires with beaters and water packs under a crew leader
Stack logs by length for loading onto trucks
Plant seedlings in prepared pits at the right spacing
Prune lower branches with pruning saws and ladders

What you need

Passes the medical check for fire crews
Physically strong and fit for steep slopes
Able to work in a crew and follow the crew leader
Available for early starts and fire-season standby
Valid ID
Willing to work in remote areas

Helpful, not essential

Previous plantation or sawmill experience
Fire fighting training
First-aid training
