Forestry Team Supervisor (Silviculture)

Hard, outdoor work on a pine plantation near Umhlanga, with training on chainsaws and fire safety. Good for someone who wants to build a solid track record they can put on their CV.

You'll report in Umhlanga. Relocation is not covered for this one. Start is planned for the beginning of next month.

• Prune lower branches with pruning saws and ladders
• Sharpen and service chainsaws daily
• Wear chainsaw chaps, helmets and ear protection at all times
• Plant seedlings in prepared pits at the right spacing
• Fell, debranch and cross-cut trees with a chainsaw
• Clear and maintain firebreaks during the dry season

• Valid ID
• Willing to work in remote areas
• Available for early starts and fire-season standby
• Follows safety rules strictly around machines and fires
• Physically strong and fit for steep slopes

• If you have a chainsaw ticket, put it at the top. Certified operators earn more and are hired first.
• Say you are fit and do not mind remote sites. Many applicants drop out after the first week, so recruiters test commitment.
