Job Description

You'll plan and teach CAPS lessons that stick at an independent primary school in Bellville. This is a good step for someone who wants proper routine and a manager who notices good work.

You'll report in Bellville. Relocation is not covered for this one.

What you'll actually do

  • Capture marks on SA-SAMS or the school's reporting platform before deadlines
  • Meet parents to discuss progress, behaviour and support plans
  • Attend staff meetings, subject meetings and district workshops
  • Supervise break duty, sport or a cultural activity each term
  • Plan weekly lessons against the CAPS annual teaching plan
  • Handle classroom discipline with the school's code of conduct
  • Teach your allocated classes and keep the pace of the ATP

Must-haves

  • Full SACE registration (provisional registration only for student or newly qualified teachers)
  • Sound knowledge of CAPS and the assessment policy for your phase
  • Clear record on the National Register for Sex Offenders and a police clearance
  • Good spoken and written command of the language of teaching
  • You can manage a class of 35 or more without losing control
  • At least 1 year of classroom teaching, including teaching practice

Nice if you have

  • Comfortable with Google Classroom or Microsoft Teams for homework
  • Coaching experience in a major school sport

What you get

  • Housing allowance for SGB and state-funded posts where it applies
  • School holidays in line with the school calendar
  • Paid SACE CPTD workshops

How to apply

  1. Make sure the role, the hours and working in Bellville really suit you before you apply.
  2. Get these ready, because shortlisted people are asked for them straight away: two recent lesson plans you wrote yourself, certified copies of your teaching qualification and academic record plus police clearance issued in the last 6 months.
  3. Fill in the short form below with your name and a phone number you actually answer.
  4. Watch for a call or WhatsApp from How2Apply over the next 8 working days.

How2Apply never charges you to apply, for training, for uniforms or for a "placement fee". If anyone asks you for money, it is a scam.

How to stand out

  • Bring a short sample lesson to the interview; many schools ask you to teach for 15 minutes.
  • Add your matric results or pass rates for your classes if they improved; hard numbers beat adjectives.
