Frail Care Centre Cleaner

You'll keep a community health clinic in George safe for patients by cleaning the way infection control demands. It's a practical job: you'll see what you got done before you go home.

You'll be based at a community health clinic in George. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps.

• Do terminal cleans of isolation rooms after a patient is discharged
• Mop spills of blood or fluids using the spill kit
• Wear gowns, masks and gloves as each room requires
• Move patients' belongings and equipment when rooms change
• Clean patient rooms using colour-coded cloths and mops for each area
• Fill in cleaning logs so infection control can audit the ward
• Handle and bag medical waste in the right coloured bins

• Not squeamish about blood, vomit or medical waste
• Willing to follow strict infection control steps every time
• Matric or Grade 11
• Calm under pressure in busy wards
• Up to date with vaccinations the hospital requires, such as hepatitis B

• Experience as a porter or general assistant in healthcare
• Previous hospital or clinic cleaning experience

• On-the-job infection control training
• Shift allowances for nights and Sundays
