Frail Care Centre Cleaner – Fixed-Term

You'll keep a day surgery clinic in Upington safe for patients by cleaning the way infection control demands. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

Home base is a day surgery clinic on the Upington side of Northern Cape. Most weeks are 45 hours, in line with the BCEA.

• Clean patient rooms using colour-coded cloths and mops for each area
• Handle and bag medical waste in the right coloured bins
• Wear gowns, masks and gloves as each room requires
• Mop spills of blood or fluids using the spill kit
• Do terminal cleans of isolation rooms after a patient is discharged
• Clean theatres between operations to the hospital's turnaround times
• Fill in cleaning logs so infection control can audit the ward

• Not squeamish about blood, vomit or medical waste
• Willing to follow strict infection control steps every time
• Matric or Grade 11
• Able to work shifts including weekends and night duty
• Calm under pressure in busy wards

• If you did an infection control course, attach the certificate. It moves you ahead of general cleaners.
