Front-End Loader Operator (Quarry & Stockpile)

Real machine hours on real projects, with the bulk earthworks contractor working in and around Atlantis. Someone who likes a bit of variety, but also likes doing things the right way, will enjoy this.

Home base is a bulk earthworks contractor on the Atlantis side of Western Cape. Most weeks are 45 hours, in line with the BCEA.

• Watch for underground services and follow the banksman's signals
• Cut and trim road layers to level with the grader
• Backfill and compact around pipes in layers
• Compact layers with the roller until density tests pass
• Load tipper trucks without spillage or overloading
• Do the pre-start checklist on your machine before the first bucket

• Operator certificate for the machine class, from an accredited training provider
• Can read grade pegs and understand cut and fill
• Willing to work on projects outside your home town
• Good depth perception and no history of machine accidents

• Basic plant maintenance or mechanical knowledge
• Certificates on more than one machine type

• Refresher training on new machines
• Overtime paid on all hours past 45 a week
• Travel home paid at the end of each site shift cycle
• Camp accommodation or a living-out allowance on remote sites

• List each machine with its size, for example "20-ton excavator, 4 years". Plant managers match you to the machine they need.
• Put your operator certificate numbers on the CV. Site safety files need them before you start.
