Front-End Loader Operator (Quarry & Stockpile)

Real machine hours on real projects, with the pipeline and trenching company working in and around Brackenfell. Expect to be trusted with real work from your first week.

You'll be based at a pipeline and trenching company in Brackenfell. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps.

• Load tipper trucks without spillage or overloading
• Record machine hours and fuel on the daily plant sheet
• Dig trenches for pipes and cables to the depth and grade set by the surveyor
• Cut and trim road layers to level with the grader
• Do the pre-start checklist on your machine before the first bucket
• Backfill and compact around pipes in layers
• Compact layers with the roller until density tests pass

• Can read grade pegs and understand cut and fill
• Operator certificate for the machine class, from an accredited training provider
• Medical certificate of fitness for operating mobile plant
• Good depth perception and no history of machine accidents
• Valid Code 10 licence for moving machines on public roads
• At least 2 years operating the machine on construction sites

• GPS machine control experience on excavators or graders
• Basic plant maintenance or mechanical knowledge

• Refresher training on new machines
• Camp accommodation or a living-out allowance on remote sites
• Overtime paid on all hours past 45 a week
• Travel home paid at the end of each site shift cycle

• You will likely do a practical test on the machine. Do the walk-around check out loud. It shows you work safely.
• List each machine with its size, for example "20-ton excavator, 4 years". Plant managers match you to the machine they need.
