Gate Security Officer (Residential Estate) – Permanent

Residents and staff at a private school campus in Phalaborwa need to feel safe when they arrive; that is your job. Expect to be trusted with real work from your first week.

• Check visitors' IDs and capture them on the visitor app or in the gate register
• Write every incident and shift change in the occurrence book (OB)
• Call the armed response or SAPS number from the call list when needed
• Open and close boom gates for residents, deliveries and contractors
• Test the panic button and radio when you come on duty
• Hand out and collect contractor access cards
• Watch for loitering, broken fencing and open doors during night patrols

• Alert, polite and firm with the public
• PSIRA registration at Grade C or higher, paid up to date
• Grade 10 minimum; matric preferred
• Speaks and writes basic English
• Physically fit for foot patrols

• Uniform, boots and winter jacket issued
• Paid night-shift allowance under the security sector rules
• Provident fund contributions
• Chance to be upgraded to Grade B with training

• Make sure your PSIRA fees are paid. A lapsed registration gets your CV thrown out, even if you have years of experience.
• List the types of sites you have guarded, like estate, mall or factory. Security companies place officers by site experience.
