Job Description

Here you run the site: labour, materials, quality and progress for the civil engineering contractor in Johannesburg CBD. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

This post is in Johannesburg CBD (Gauteng). Please only apply if you can travel there daily.

What you'll actually do

Keep the site diary, daily labour returns and plant hours up to date
Check reinforcing, shuttering and cover blocks before calling for a pour inspection
Check workmanship against drawings, specifications and SANS 10400
Run toolbox talks and support the safety officer on Construction Regulations compliance
Draw up snag lists and close them out before practical completion
Measure completed work for monthly payment certificates

What you need

At least 5 years on building or civil sites, 2 of them in a supervisory post
Working knowledge of the Construction Regulations 2014 under the OHS Act
Firm with labour, fair with subcontractors
Code 08 licence and your own reliable transport between sites
You can read architectural and structural drawings and pick up clashes

Nice if you have

Surveying skills with a total station
SACPCMP registration as a Construction Manager or Candidate
