General Foreman (Concrete & Structures)

This retail and commercial builder in Lephalale needs someone who can read the drawings and get a building out of the ground. It suits someone who likes knowing exactly what a good day's work looks like.

You'll report in Lephalale. Relocation is not covered for this one. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

• Chair the weekly site meeting and record actions for the principal agent
• Set out foundations, grid lines and levels with the surveyor or a dumpy level
• Check reinforcing, shuttering and cover blocks before calling for a pour inspection
• Order concrete, bricks and steel on time so gangs never stand idle
• Draw up snag lists and close them out before practical completion

• Good with MS Project or a similar programme tool
• Working knowledge of the Construction Regulations 2014 under the OHS Act
• You can read architectural and structural drawings and pick up clashes
• National Diploma or BTech in Building or Civil Engineering, or a trade background with site experience
• At least 5 years on building or civil sites, 2 of them in a supervisory post

• Surveying skills with a total station
• SACPCMP registration as a Construction Manager or Candidate
• Concrete technology short course

• Site accommodation on out-of-town projects
• Vehicle allowance or company bakkie
• Project completion bonus linked to handover date
