General Maintenance Technician (Hotel)

Every day is different here: small repairs, painting and planned maintenance at the city hotel in Durban Central. Someone who likes a bit of variety, but also likes doing things the right way, will enjoy this.

Home base is a city hotel on the Durban Central side of KwaZulu-Natal. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

• Patch, sand and paint walls, doors and ceilings between tenants
• Change globes, fluorescent tubes and plug covers (no DB work)
• Hang doors, fit locks and adjust sliding door rails
• Keep the maintenance store tidy and track stock used
• Replace tap washers, cisterns, shower heads and toilet seats

• Grade 10 at least; matric is a plus
• Basic painting, tiling, plumbing and carpentry skills
• Your own tools are a plus, but safe tool handling is a must
• Available for the occasional weekend emergency
• Honest and trusted to work inside occupied units
• At least 2 years of general building maintenance work you can back up with references

• Meals on duty at hotel sites
• Training on specialised equipment like gate motors and pool plant
• On-site accommodation at some estates
• Uniform and safety boots supplied

• Do not claim electrical work you are not licensed to sign off. Say "basic electrical, no DB work" instead.
