Job Description

This municipal infrastructure department in Stellenbosch needs someone who can check a design and then go and check it was built right. This role rewards consistency more than flash.

This post is in Stellenbosch (Western Cape). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. Overtime comes up in peak season and is paid.

What your day looks like

Design water pipelines, sewers and stormwater systems with hydraulic software
Act as resident engineer: inspect works, measure quantities and certify payments
Review geotechnical reports and choose suitable foundations
Chair site meetings and handle contractor queries
Prepare tender documents under GCC 2015 or NEC contracts
Check drawings from technicians and sign them for issue

You'll need

Registered with ECSA as a professional or candidate
Good grasp of South African design codes for your field
Experience with structural or hydraulic design software
BEng, BSc Eng or BTech in Civil Engineering
At least 3 years in design or construction supervision

Extra points for

Registration with SAICE and active CPD
Master's degree in structural or water engineering
Experience on public sector infrastructure projects
