Geotechnical Engineer (Foundations)

This bulk water utility in Tzaneen needs someone who can check a design and then go and check it was built right. Bring a calm head on busy days and you'll be fine.

You'll report in Tzaneen. Relocation is not covered for this one. Most weeks are 45 hours, in line with the BCEA.

• Chair site meetings and handle contractor queries
• Check drawings from technicians and sign them for issue
• Work out loads to SANS 10160 for buildings and structures
• Design reinforced concrete and steel structures to SANS 10100 and SANS 10162
• Apply for municipal wayleaves and building plan approvals
• Act as resident engineer: inspect works, measure quantities and certify payments

• Good grasp of South African design codes for your field
• Code 08 licence and willingness to spend time on site
• Experience with structural or hydraulic design software
• Able to explain technical issues to clients and contractors
• Registered with ECSA as a professional or candidate

• Master's degree in structural or water engineering
• Registration with SAICE and active CPD
