Geotechnical Engineer (Foundations) – Permanent

This civil engineering consultancy in White River needs someone who can check a design and then go and check it was built right. This is a good step for someone who wants proper routine and a manager who notices good work.

This post is White River-based, with most of your time spent at a civil engineering consultancy.

• Act as resident engineer: inspect works, measure quantities and certify payments
• Work out loads to SANS 10160 for buildings and structures
• Design reinforced concrete and steel structures to SANS 10100 and SANS 10162
• Chair site meetings and handle contractor queries
• Write design reports and handover documents
• Review geotechnical reports and choose suitable foundations
• Check drawings from technicians and sign them for issue

• Good grasp of South African design codes for your field
• BEng, BSc Eng or BTech in Civil Engineering
• Code 08 licence and willingness to spend time on site
• At least 3 years in design or construction supervision
• Registered with ECSA as a professional or candidate
• Able to explain technical issues to clients and contractors

• Contract management training for NEC or GCC
• Master's degree in structural or water engineering
• Registration with SAICE and active CPD
