Grader Operator (Road Construction) – Fixed-Term

The quarry and aggregate supplier in Vereeniging needs an operator who looks after the machine as well as the job. You'll work with a small crew, so being easy to work with matters as much as skill.

You'll be based at a quarry and aggregate supplier in Vereeniging. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

• Park the machine on level ground and lock it when you knock off
• Grease the machine daily and report leaks or damage straight away
• Dig trenches for pipes and cables to the depth and grade set by the surveyor
• Record machine hours and fuel on the daily plant sheet
• Do the pre-start checklist on your machine before the first bucket
• Cut and trim road layers to level with the grader

• Willing to work on projects outside your home town
• Good depth perception and no history of machine accidents
• At least 2 years operating the machine on construction sites
• Can read grade pegs and understand cut and fill
• Operator certificate for the machine class, from an accredited training provider

• Overtime paid on all hours past 45 a week
• Camp accommodation or a living-out allowance on remote sites
• Refresher training on new machines
• Travel home paid at the end of each site shift cycle

• You will likely do a practical test on the machine. Do the walk-around check out loud. It shows you work safely.
• Put your operator certificate numbers on the CV. Site safety files need them before you start.
