Guest Room Attendant (Lodge) – Entry Level

Check-out to check-in in under an hour, room after room, at a boutique guesthouse in White River. It's a practical job: you'll see what you got done before you go home.

Location: White River, Mpumalanga. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first. Shifts rotate, so you'll need to be flexible about days and nights.

• Vacuum, dust and check the minibar in each room
• Work through a room list, marking rooms clean on the housekeeping board
• Clean bathrooms, replace towels and restock guest toiletries
• Log lost property with the guest's room number and date
• Do evening turndowns, closing curtains and setting out slippers
• Keep your trolley stocked and neat before each shift
• Strip and make beds to the hotel's standard, hospital corners included

• Quick and thorough, with a target of about 14 to 16 rooms a shift
• Friendly and polite if you meet guests in the corridor
• Available on weekends, holidays and in peak season
• Honest, since you work in guests' rooms alone

• Previous hotel or guesthouse housekeeping experience
• Experience with industrial laundry machines

• Uniform supplied and laundered
• Staff accommodation at remote lodges
• Meals on duty from the staff kitchen

• If you worked in a star-graded hotel, say which grading. It tells them the standard you already know.
• Write how many rooms you usually cleaned per shift. Head housekeepers care about pace as much as quality.
