Guesthouse Housekeeper

Housekeeping at a beachfront holiday resort in Midrand is steady work with room to grow into supervising. If you like clear targets and knowing where you stand, this is for you.

Home base is a beachfront holiday resort on the Midrand side of Gauteng. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

• Clean bathrooms, replace towels and restock guest toiletries
• Work through a room list, marking rooms clean on the housekeeping board
• Vacuum, dust and check the minibar in each room
• Load, wash, dry and press linen in the hotel laundry
• Clean lobby, lifts and public toilets through the day

• Quick and thorough, with a target of about 14 to 16 rooms a shift
• Grade 10 or matric
• Physically able to push trolleys and turn mattresses
• Well groomed
• Friendly and polite if you meet guests in the corridor
• Available on weekends, holidays and in peak season

• Uniform supplied and laundered
• Staff accommodation at remote lodges
• Share of the service charge or guest tips
• Meals on duty from the staff kitchen

• If you worked in a star-graded hotel, say which grading. It tells them the standard you already know.
• Mention seasonal availability for December and Easter. Coastal and lodge properties hire heavily before those peaks.
