Guesthouse Housekeeper – Experienced

Guests at a conference hotel in Stellenbosch will never meet you, but they will judge the stay by your work. This is a good step for someone who wants proper routine and a manager who notices good work.

This post is Stellenbosch-based, with most of your time spent at a conference hotel.

• Clean lobby, lifts and public toilets through the day
• Strip and make beds to the hotel's standard, hospital corners included
• Log lost property with the guest's room number and date
• Clean bathrooms, replace towels and restock guest toiletries
• Vacuum, dust and check the minibar in each room

• Physically able to push trolleys and turn mattresses
• Well groomed
• Grade 10 or matric
• Quick and thorough, with a target of about 14 to 16 rooms a shift
• Friendly and polite if you meet guests in the corridor

• A hospitality short course or NQF Level 2 accommodation services certificate
• Speaking a foreign language for tourist guests

• Share of the service charge or guest tips
• Uniform supplied and laundered
• Meals on duty from the staff kitchen
• Staff accommodation at remote lodges

• Write how many rooms you usually cleaned per shift. Head housekeepers care about pace as much as quality.
• Mention seasonal availability for December and Easter. Coastal and lodge properties hire heavily before those peaks.
