Hardware Store Yard Assistant

Shoppers in Durban Central judge a hardware and building store by its shelves, and that is where you come in. If you like clear targets and knowing where you stand, this is for you.

You'll be based at a hardware and building store in Durban Central. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Start is planned for the beginning of next month.

• Pack shelves from the back, rotating older stock to the front (first in, first out)
• Unpack deliveries in the receiving area and sort by aisle
• Help customers find products and carry heavy items to cars
• Clean spills fast and put up wet-floor signs
• Weigh, bag and price fruit and vegetables
• Check sell-by dates and pull expired stock for the manager

• Available for weekends, month-end and public holidays
• Basic reading and maths for price checks
• Able to stand and lift cases all shift
• Grade 10 or matric
• Polite with customers and happy to help
• Neat appearance and punctual

• Previous shelf packing or merchandising work
• Some till or cash-handling experience
• Own transport for route merchandising jobs

• Paid training in store procedures
• Chance to move into till or department roles
• Travel allowance on merchandising routes
