Hardware Store Yard Assistant

Shoppers in Stellenbosch judge a neighbourhood supermarket by its shelves, and that is where you come in. This is a good step for someone who wants proper routine and a manager who notices good work.

You'll be based at a neighbourhood supermarket in Stellenbosch. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

• Pack shelves from the back, rotating older stock to the front (first in, first out)
• Clean spills fast and put up wet-floor signs
• Visit several stores on a merchandising route and send photos of shelves
• Build promotional displays at the ends of aisles
• Help customers find products and carry heavy items to cars
• Face products so labels point forward and gaps are filled
• Weigh, bag and price fruit and vegetables

• Available for weekends, month-end and public holidays
• Honest, since stock losses are checked closely
• Polite with customers and happy to help
• Able to stand and lift cases all shift
• Neat appearance and punctual

• Being 18 or older for liquor store roles
• Some till or cash-handling experience

• Chance to move into till or department roles
• Travel allowance on merchandising routes
• Paid training in store procedures
