Health and Safety Manager (Construction) – Immediate Start

The building contractor in Somerset West needs a safety officer who is on the site, not stuck in the container office. Someone who likes a bit of variety, but also likes doing things the right way, will enjoy this.

This post is in Somerset West (Western Cape). Please only apply if you can travel there daily.

• Inspect scaffolds, excavations and edge protection daily
• Investigate incidents and near misses and report them on time
• Check that fall protection plans are in place for work at height
• Prepare monthly safety statistics for the client's agent
• Compile and maintain the site health and safety file under the Construction Regulations 2014
• Keep appointment letters and competency certificates in the file

• At least 2 years as a safety officer on construction sites
• First Aid Level 1 at least
• SAMTRAC or an NQF-accredited health and safety qualification
• Good understanding of the OHS Act and Construction Regulations 2014
• You write clear reports in English

• Diploma in Safety Management
• ISO 45001 internal auditor course

• Clear growth path to a construction health and safety agent role
• Travel and site allowances
• Paid SACPCMP renewal and CPD
• Laptop and data for reporting

• Name the kind of projects you have covered, like roads, housing or wind farms. Clients want sector experience.
• Bring a sample risk assessment or safety file index you drew up (remove client names). It shows your work better than a list.
