Home-Based Caregiver (Live-In)

Here you help people wash, eat, move and heal, at a retirement village frail care centre in Burgersfort. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

This post is in Burgersfort (Limpopo). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. Shifts rotate, so you'll need to be flexible about days and nights.

• Help patients bath, dress, eat and use the toilet with dignity
• Spot confusion, falls risk or changes in mood and tell the nurse in charge
• Make beds, change linen and keep the rooms clean and uncluttered
• Hand out oral medication under the supervision of a registered nurse
• Do simple wound dressings and report anything that looks infected

• Physically strong enough to lift and move patients safely
• SANC enrolment as an Enrolled Nurse or Enrolled Nursing Auxiliary for nursing posts
• At least 1 year of hands-on patient care
• Patient and gentle with elderly, frail or confused people
• First aid Level 1 or BLS certificate

• Code B or Code 8 driver's licence for home visits
• Experience in a frail care or hospice setting
• Dementia care or palliative care short course

• Paid training in dementia and end-of-life care
• Uniform supplied
• Transport home after late shifts at some facilities

• Name the type of patients you've cared for, such as stroke patients or dementia residents, in your first CV line.
• If you're a caregiver, attach the certificate from the training provider, not just a letter saying you attended.
