Home-Based Caregiver (Live-In)

You'll give hands-on nursing care at a home-based care agency in Kathu, working alongside registered nurses. If you like clear targets and knowing where you stand, this is for you.

The site is in Kathu; early starts mean public transport timing matters, so check your route before applying. You'll start with a short induction before working on your own.

• Help patients walk, transfer from bed to chair and do their exercises
• Keep families updated on routine matters and pass clinical questions to the sister
• Do simple wound dressings and report anything that looks infected
• Hand out oral medication under the supervision of a registered nurse
• Turn bed-bound patients on schedule and check pressure areas for early sores
• Keep the fluid and food intake charts accurate for every patient
• Help patients bath, dress, eat and use the toilet with dignity

• Physically strong enough to lift and move patients safely
• Able to work shifts, including nights and weekends
• At least 1 year of hands-on patient care
• First aid Level 1 or BLS certificate
• Matric or NQF Level 4 equivalent

• Overtime paid at time and a half
• Uniform supplied
• Transport home after late shifts at some facilities
• Paid training in dementia and end-of-life care

• Name the type of patients you've cared for, such as stroke patients or dementia residents, in your first CV line.
• If you're a caregiver, attach the certificate from the training provider, not just a letter saying you attended.
