Home-Based Caregiver (Live-In)

Your care keeps residents at a home-based care agency in Prospecton safe, clean and comfortable through the day. You'll work with a small crew, so being easy to work with matters as much as skill.

You'll report in Prospecton. Relocation is not covered for this one. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

• Do simple wound dressings and report anything that looks infected
• Take and chart temperature, pulse, blood pressure and blood glucose
• Keep the fluid and food intake charts accurate for every patient
• Spot confusion, falls risk or changes in mood and tell the nurse in charge
• Keep families updated on routine matters and pass clinical questions to the sister
• Follow infection control rules, including hand hygiene and safe sharps disposal

• Physically strong enough to lift and move patients safely
• First aid Level 1 or BLS certificate
• At least 1 year of hands-on patient care
• Accredited home-based care or ancillary health care certificate for caregiver posts
• SANC enrolment as an Enrolled Nurse or Enrolled Nursing Auxiliary for nursing posts

• Dementia care or palliative care short course
• Experience in a frail care or hospice setting
• A second South African language spoken by the patients you'll serve

• Paid training in dementia and end-of-life care
• Overtime paid at time and a half
• Transport home after late shifts at some facilities
• Uniform supplied

• Name the type of patients you've cared for, such as stroke patients or dementia residents, in your first CV line.
• If you're a caregiver, attach the certificate from the training provider, not just a letter saying you attended.
