Hospital Ward Cleaner

You'll keep a community health clinic in Cape Town CBD safe for patients by cleaning the way infection control demands. This role rewards consistency more than flash.

This post is Cape Town CBD-based, with most of your time spent at a community health clinic.

• Wear gowns, masks and gloves as each room requires
• Move patients' belongings and equipment when rooms change
• Take soiled linen to the sluice room and bring clean linen back
• Do terminal cleans of isolation rooms after a patient is discharged
• Fill in cleaning logs so infection control can audit the ward
• Disinfect bed rails, call bells and bedside lockers

• Not squeamish about blood, vomit or medical waste
• Willing to follow strict infection control steps every time
• Able to work shifts including weekends and night duty
• Matric or Grade 11
• Up to date with vaccinations the hospital requires, such as hepatitis B
• Respectful and discreet around patients

• If you did an infection control course, attach the certificate. It moves you ahead of general cleaners.
