Hospital Ward Cleaner

Careful, trained cleaners are wanted at a day surgery clinic in Richards Bay. If you turn up on time and finish what you start, you'll fit in quickly.

Home base is a day surgery clinic on the Richards Bay side of KwaZulu-Natal. Shifts rotate, so you'll need to be flexible about days and nights.

• Do terminal cleans of isolation rooms after a patient is discharged
• Disinfect bed rails, call bells and bedside lockers
• Fill in cleaning logs so infection control can audit the ward
• Wear gowns, masks and gloves as each room requires
• Move patients' belongings and equipment when rooms change
• Mop spills of blood or fluids using the spill kit

• Able to work shifts including weekends and night duty
• Not squeamish about blood, vomit or medical waste
• Respectful and discreet around patients
• Matric or Grade 11
• Willing to follow strict infection control steps every time

• Meal on shift at the staff canteen
• On-the-job infection control training
• Shift allowances for nights and Sundays
• Medical aid option through the employer

• If you did an infection control course, attach the certificate. It moves you ahead of general cleaners.
