Housekeeper and Cook (Family Home) – Immediate Start

Steady household work in a guesthouse with family quarters in Alberton, with clear days and hours agreed upfront. It's the kind of job where doing the basics well every day gets you noticed.

This post is in Alberton (Gauteng). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. Most weeks are 45 hours, in line with the BCEA.

• Clean windows and patio doors once a week
• Prepare simple meals or school lunches when asked
• Keep a list of cleaning supplies running low for the employer
• Help an elderly person with meals, medication reminders and light walking
• Clean bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen and living areas on a weekly rotation
• Change bed linen and make beds
• Dust furniture, ornaments and skirting boards

• Neat, organised and able to work without being supervised
• South African ID or valid work permit
• Willing to follow the family's house rules and routines
• Able to handle a full-day physical routine
• Good with children and patient

• Non-smoker
• Cooking experience with family meals
• Experience caring for an older person

• Written contract with fixed hours and duties
• Registered for UIF and COIDA by the employer
• Paid annual leave and public holidays as the law requires

• Ask for a written contract and to be registered for UIF. Good employers expect the question and it protects you.
• Say plainly what you can and cannot do: cooking, ironing, childcare, driving. It avoids arguments later and families like honesty.
