Housekeeper and Cook (Family Home)

A family in Burgersfort wants someone they can trust with their retired couple's cottage and their children. Good for someone who wants to build a solid track record they can put on their CV.

You'll be based at a retired couple's cottage in Burgersfort. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Shifts rotate, so you'll need to be flexible about days and nights.

• Clean bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen and living areas on a weekly rotation
• Wash dishes and keep the kitchen tidy after meals
• Clean windows and patio doors once a week
• Water indoor plants and feed pets
• Get children ready for school and supervise homework in the afternoon
• Help an elderly person with meals, medication reminders and light walking

• Able to speak and understand basic English
• Good with children and patient
• Trustworthy, with references from previous employers you can share
• South African ID or valid work permit

• Basic first aid or child CPR course
• A driver's licence for school lifts

• Written contract with fixed hours and duties
• Own room with bathroom for live-in posts
• Registered for UIF and COIDA by the employer

• Families hire on trust, so make references your strongest part. Write the employer's name, suburb, years worked and phone number for each one.
• Say plainly what you can and cannot do: cooking, ironing, childcare, driving. It avoids arguments later and families like honesty.
