Housekeeper and Cook (Family Home) – Permanent

You'll keep a guesthouse with family quarters in Vereeniging clean, calm and running smoothly for the family. It's a practical job: you'll see what you got done before you go home.

This post is in Vereeniging (Gauteng). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. You'll start with a short induction before working on your own.

• Clean bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen and living areas on a weekly rotation
• Dust furniture, ornaments and skirting boards
• Keep a list of cleaning supplies running low for the employer
• Prepare simple meals or school lunches when asked
• Water indoor plants and feed pets

• Willing to follow the family's house rules and routines
• Neat, organised and able to work without being supervised
• Trustworthy, with references from previous employers you can share
• South African ID or valid work permit
• Able to speak and understand basic English

• Experience caring for an older person
• A driver's licence for school lifts

• Own room with bathroom for live-in posts
• Written contract with fixed hours and duties
• Transport money for live-out staff
• Paid annual leave and public holidays as the law requires

• Families hire on trust, so make references your strongest part. Write the employer's name, suburb, years worked and phone number for each one.
• Ask for a written contract and to be registered for UIF. Good employers expect the question and it protects you.
