HR & IR Officer (Mining Operation)

This manufacturing plant in Springs needs an HR person who knows labour law and the shop floor. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

This post is Springs-based, with most of your time spent at a manufacturing plant. You'll start with a short induction before working on your own.

• Represent the company at CCMA conciliations and arbitrations.
• Run exit interviews and report turnover each quarter.
• Update HR policies when labour law changes.
• Chair or initiate disciplinary hearings and write up the outcome.
• Compile the Employment Equity report and the Workplace Skills Plan.

• At least 3 years as an HR officer or generalist
• Confident facilitating hard conversations with managers and unions
• Good report writing and Excel
• A degree or diploma in HR management, labour relations or industrial psychology
• Solid working knowledge of the LRA, BCEA and EEA

• Prepare for a case-study question on dismissing an employee fairly, and walk through procedure and substance.
• Quantify your IR work: how many hearings, CCMA cases and outcomes; that is what HR managers check first.
