HVAC Service Technician (Office Buildings)

The supermarket refrigeration contractor in Tembisa needs an HVAC technician who knows both the electrical side and the refrigerant side. It suits someone who likes knowing exactly what a good day's work looks like.

Home base is a supermarket refrigeration contractor on the Tembisa side of Gauteng. Most weeks are 45 hours, in line with the BCEA.

• Commission new systems and show the client how to use the controls
• Pressure test with nitrogen, pull a deep vacuum and charge with R410A, R32 or R134a
• Complete service reports on a tablet and have the site manager sign them
• Clean coils, replace filters and check drain lines on scheduled services
• Diagnose faulty compressors, fans, contactors and control boards
• Install split units, cassettes and ducted systems, including brazing and vacuum work

• Comfortable on roofs and ladders in summer heat
• Code 08 driver's licence, since the job is mostly on the road
• Refrigeration and air-conditioning trade test or an NQF 4 occupational certificate
• At least 2 years servicing commercial or residential systems

• Building management system alarm handling
• CO2 transcritical refrigeration experience in retail stores

• Standby pay for weekend fridge breakdowns
• Gauge manifold, vacuum pump and recovery unit issued to you
• Manufacturer training on new equipment ranges
• Company vehicle with a fitted tool rack

• Your SAQCC Gas card must be current. Put the expiry date on your CV so nobody has to ask.
• Say which refrigerants and system types you have worked on. A recruiter for supermarket work wants to see CO2 or large rack systems.
