Job Description

A boutique labour law practice in Johannesburg CBD needs an attorney who can draft, advise and stand up in court. Bring a calm head on busy days and you'll be fine.

Home base is a boutique labour law practice on the Johannesburg CBD side of Gauteng.

What you'll actually do

Brief counsel and prepare them for trial and opposed motions
Track legislation changes that affect clients' businesses
Manage a portfolio of litigation or advisory matters on your own
Negotiate settlements and draft settlement agreements
Draft and review contracts, shareholder agreements and legal opinions
Review company processes for POPIA and privacy compliance
Appear in the magistrate's court, CCMA, Labour Court or High Court as your matters need

You'll need

Able to manage client relationships without a senior in the room
Enrolled with the Legal Practice Council and holding a current Fidelity Fund certificate if you handle trust money
LLB and admission as an attorney of the High Court of South Africa
Right of appearance in the High Court for litigation posts
At least 2 years of post-admission experience in the relevant field
Strong drafting and legal research

Nice if you have

Experience on bank or insurer panels
LLM or postgraduate certificate in your specialist area
Existing client following
