Job Description

Industrial cleaners are always in demand; this crew works a poultry processing plant in Stellenbosch. People who do well here are steady, honest and not scared to ask when something is unclear.

Location: Stellenbosch, Western Cape. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

What your day looks like

Store chemicals in the locked chemical store with safety data sheets
Strip down and wash production equipment after the last run
Test sanitiser strength with test strips and record the reading
Clean drains and grease traps in commercial kitchens
Run a high-pressure washer on grease, oil and slurry build-up
Lock out machines before cleaning, as the safety file requires

What you need

Respect for chemical safety and PPE
Reliable, as crews are small and each person counts
Grade 10 or better; you must read chemical labels and safety data sheets
Able to pass a medical fitness check for plant work

Nice if you have

Working-at-heights or IRATA rope access ticket
A Code 8 licence to drive the crew bakkie

On offer

Full PPE: waterproof suits, boots, goggles and respirators
Night-shift and standby allowances
Higher hourly rate than standard cleaning

Applying, step by step

Read the "What you need" list above. If you tick most of it, go ahead and apply.
Have the following on hand (clear photos on your phone are fine at first): recent medical fitness certificate if you have one, machine, chemical or heights certificates plus copy of your South African ID.
Use the form on this page. It takes about two minutes and you don't need to upload anything yet.
Watch for a call or WhatsApp from How2Apply over the next 6 working days.

Your application joins the How2Apply talent pool for this role, and we put shortlisted people forward to employers hiring in and around Stellenbosch.

How2Apply never charges you to apply, for training, for uniforms or for a "placement fee". If anyone asks you for money, it is a scam.

Before you hit apply

If you hold a heights or rope access ticket, attach it. It can double what you earn in this line of work.
Put the machines and chemicals you have used at the top of your CV. Industrial cleaning companies hire on skills, not just willingness.
