Installation Electrician (Wireman's Licence)

The shopfitting and retail fit-out firm in Brits needs a qualified electrician who can work neatly and sign off safe installations. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

The work is in Brits, North West, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day. Shifts rotate, so you'll need to be flexible about days and nights.

• Terminate armoured cable and fit glands on three-phase motor supplies
• Test installations and issue Certificates of Compliance where your registration allows
• Lock out and tag out circuits before any work on live equipment
• Install and wire distribution boards, isolators and earth leakage units to SANS 10142-1
• Fault-find tripping circuits with a multimeter, insulation tester and loop tester

• Clean criminal record, since you will work inside client homes
• Your own basic hand tools and a calibrated multimeter
• Valid Code 08 driver's licence
• Comfortable working at heights on ladders and in roof spaces
• At least 3 years working as a qualified electrician after your trade test
• Registered with the Department of Employment and Labour as an Installation Electrician or holding a Wireman's licence

• Solar PV installation training and experience with hybrid inverters
• Working at Heights certificate still in date
• Master Installation Electrician registration for three-phase CoCs

• Company-issued test instruments, calibrated every year
• Company bakkie for call-outs and travel between sites
• Standby allowance when you are on the after-hours roster

• Put your registration category (IE, MIE or single-phase tester) and registration number right under your name on the CV.
• If you have issued CoCs before, say how many and for what type of property.
