Job Description

You'll wire, fault-find and certify installations for the office park maintenance team in Soweto. This role rewards consistency more than flash.

This post is Soweto-based, with most of your time spent at an office park maintenance team. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

What you'll actually do

Install and wire distribution boards, isolators and earth leakage units to SANS 10142-1
Supervise and teach an electrical assistant or apprentice on site
Read electrical layouts and mark out point positions before chasing walls
Terminate armoured cable and fit glands on three-phase motor supplies
Lock out and tag out circuits before any work on live equipment
Replace faulty light fittings, plugs, geyser elements and thermostats

What you need

Valid Code 08 driver's licence
Clean criminal record, since you will work inside client homes
Your own basic hand tools and a calibrated multimeter
Solid working knowledge of SANS 10142-1 and the Electrical Installation Regulations

Helpful, not essential

Solar PV installation training and experience with hybrid inverters
Working at Heights certificate still in date
