Job Description

Got your trade test and a steady hand on a DB board? This food processing plant in Upington needs you on the tools. You'll work with a small crew, so being easy to work with matters as much as skill.

Home base is a food processing plant on the Upington side of Northern Cape.

What your day looks like

Test installations and issue Certificates of Compliance where your registration allows
Run conduit, trunking and cable tray on new builds and renovations
Replace faulty light fittings, plugs, geyser elements and thermostats
Install and wire distribution boards, isolators and earth leakage units to SANS 10142-1
Lock out and tag out circuits before any work on live equipment

What you need

Clean criminal record, since you will work inside client homes
Your own basic hand tools and a calibrated multimeter
Valid Code 08 driver's licence
Solid working knowledge of SANS 10142-1 and the Electrical Installation Regulations
Registered with the Department of Employment and Labour as an Installation Electrician or holding a Wireman's licence
At least 3 years working as a qualified electrician after your trade test

Helpful, not essential

Working at Heights certificate still in date
N3 electrical trade theory on top of your trade test
