Job Description

Teach at a public high school in Pinetown where your planning, marking and patience all count. If you turn up on time and finish what you start, you'll fit in quickly.

Home base is a public high school on the Pinetown side of KwaZulu-Natal. Overtime comes up in peak season and is paid.

What you'll actually do

Keep learner profiles and a tidy teacher file for subject advisers
Handle classroom discipline with the school's code of conduct
Use data projectors, smartboards or tablets where the school has them
Prepare Grade 12 learners for prelims and the NSC exams
Teach your allocated classes and keep the pace of the ATP
Give extra lessons to learners who are falling behind
Supervise break duty, sport or a cultural activity each term

Must-haves

A B.Ed, or a degree plus PGCE, in the phase and subject you'll teach
Sound knowledge of CAPS and the assessment policy for your phase
Good spoken and written command of the language of teaching
You can manage a class of 35 or more without losing control

Extra points for

Comfortable with Google Classroom or Microsoft Teams for homework
Honours degree in your subject or in education management
Experience with remedial or inclusive education
