Job Description

A public high school in Somerset West needs a teacher who can hold a class and lift the marks. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

What you'll actually do

Plan weekly lessons against the CAPS annual teaching plan
Give extra lessons to learners who are falling behind
Keep learner profiles and a tidy teacher file for subject advisers
Prepare Grade 12 learners for prelims and the NSC exams
Handle classroom discipline with the school's code of conduct
Capture marks on SA-SAMS or the school's reporting platform before deadlines

You'll need

Full SACE registration (provisional registration only for student or newly qualified teachers)
Good spoken and written command of the language of teaching
Sound knowledge of CAPS and the assessment policy for your phase
A B.Ed, or a degree plus PGCE, in the phase and subject you'll teach

Helpful, not essential

Experience marking for the NSC or IEB
Coaching experience in a major school sport
Honours degree in your subject or in education management
