IT Service Desk Agent (First Line)

A group of private schools in Benoni needs a calm tech who can help frustrated users get back to work. This role rewards consistency more than flash.

You'll be based at a group of private schools in Benoni. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

• Escalate network and server faults to second or third line with good notes
• Write short how-to guides for common user problems
• Visit branches or sites to fix issues that need hands on the machine
• Keep the asset register up to date when equipment moves
• Connect users remotely with a remote support tool to fix issues

• Working knowledge of Windows 10 and 11 and Microsoft 365
• Matric plus an IT qualification, such as CompTIA A+ or an IT diploma
• Basic networking: IP addresses, DNS, DHCP and Wi-Fi
• Patient and friendly with non-technical users
• Able to log clear, complete ticket notes
• Code B driver's licence and own car for field posts

• Experience with Intune or SCCM for device management
• CompTIA Network+ or Microsoft MD-102 certification
• ITIL Foundation

• Paid certification exams after probation
• Travel allowance for field technicians
• Clear path to second-line and systems roles

• Be ready for a practical test on a real laptop or a phone troubleshooting role-play.
• Describe the size of the environment you supported, such as "400 users across 6 branches".
