Job Description

A fintech start-up in Cape Town CBD needs a developer who can take a ticket from idea to production. You'll work with a small crew, so being easy to work with matters as much as skill.

This post is Cape Town CBD-based, with most of your time spent at a fintech start-up. Overtime comes up in peak season and is paid.

What you'll actually do

Design database tables and write efficient SQL queries
Join daily stand-ups and sprint planning
Pick up tickets from the sprint board and estimate the work
Investigate production bugs using logs and monitoring dashboards
Build and consume REST or GraphQL APIs
Document how your features work for support and new developers

What you need

Good SQL and understanding of relational databases
Commercial experience in at least one of PHP, C#, Java, Python or JavaScript
You can explain technical choices to non-technical people
A computer science or IT qualification, or a portfolio that proves you can build
Stable internet and a quiet workspace for remote days
Experience writing automated tests
