Job Description

Here your code runs in production, not in a drawer: an insurance company software team in Fourways. This is a good step for someone who wants proper routine and a manager who notices good work.

You'll be based at an insurance company software team in Fourways. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps.

What you'll actually do

Deploy through a CI/CD pipeline on Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions or GitLab
Write, test and refactor code in your team's main language
Pick up tickets from the sprint board and estimate the work
Document how your features work for support and new developers
Build and consume REST or GraphQL APIs
Investigate production bugs using logs and monitoring dashboards
Pair with junior developers to unblock them

You'll need

Good SQL and understanding of relational databases
You can explain technical choices to non-technical people
Solid Git habits: branches, pull requests and meaningful commit messages
Experience writing automated tests
Commercial experience in at least one of PHP, C#, Java, Python or JavaScript

Nice if you have

Cloud certification on AWS, Azure or Google Cloud
Public GitHub portfolio or published app
