Job Description

Write clean code, review pull requests and fix what breaks at an insurance company software team in Kempton Park. If you like clear targets and knowing where you stand, this is for you.

The work is in Kempton Park, Gauteng, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day. Shifts rotate, so you'll need to be flexible about days and nights.

What your day looks like

Join daily stand-ups and sprint planning
Build and consume REST or GraphQL APIs
Investigate production bugs using logs and monitoring dashboards
Pick up tickets from the sprint board and estimate the work
Review teammates' pull requests with useful comments
Pair with junior developers to unblock them
Write unit and integration tests before you merge

Must-haves

Good SQL and understanding of relational databases
Commercial experience in at least one of PHP, C#, Java, Python or JavaScript
Stable internet and a quiet workspace for remote days
Solid Git habits: branches, pull requests and meaningful commit messages
You can explain technical choices to non-technical people
Experience writing automated tests

Helpful, not essential

Docker and Kubernetes experience
Public GitHub portfolio or published app
