Java Developer (Banking Systems) – Permanent

You'll build and ship features that real users touch every day, for a bank's digital channels team in Pretoria West. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

You'll be based at a bank's digital channels team in Pretoria West. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps.

• Investigate production bugs using logs and monitoring dashboards
• Review teammates' pull requests with useful comments
• Write, test and refactor code in your team's main language
• Write unit and integration tests before you merge
• Document how your features work for support and new developers
• Build and consume REST or GraphQL APIs
• Handle personal data safely, with POPIA rules in mind

• Stable internet and a quiet workspace for remote days
• Commercial experience in at least one of PHP, C#, Java, Python or JavaScript
• Good SQL and understanding of relational databases
• Solid Git habits: branches, pull requests and meaningful commit messages
• Experience writing automated tests

• Docker and Kubernetes experience
• Experience in regulated sectors such as banking or medical schemes
• Knowledge of secure coding and the OWASP Top 10
