Junior Bookkeeper (Xero)

You'll keep the books clean and up to date for a family-owned manufacturer in Tzaneen. Someone who likes a bit of variety, but also likes doing things the right way, will enjoy this.

You'll be based at a family-owned manufacturer in Tzaneen. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Overtime comes up in peak season and is paid.

• Capture supplier invoices and customer receipts on Sage or Xero
• Keep the filing system in order for the annual audit or review
• Reconcile creditors statements and sort out differences with suppliers
• Update customer credit limits and put accounts on hold when needed
• Load supplier payments on internet banking for authorisation
• Reconcile bank accounts daily and clear unallocated items

• At least 2 years of hands-on bookkeeping or clerk work
• Matric with Accounting
• Good with Excel: VLOOKUP, pivot tables and simple formulas
• Bookkeeping certificate or diploma (ICB, FASSET learnership or similar)
• Understanding of VAT input and output rules

• Paid study leave for bookkeeping exams
• Office hours with no weekend work
• Hybrid work after probation at some practices
• Thirteenth cheque at many small firms

• Say how far you take the books, for example "to trial balance" or "to management accounts"; it tells recruiters your level.
• Recruiters often give a short Excel or recon test, so practise a bank recon before the interview.
