Junior Quantity Surveyor (Private Practice)

You'll measure, price and manage the money on building projects for the main building contractor in Harrismith. This is a good step for someone who wants proper routine and a manager who notices good work.

The site is in Harrismith; early starts mean public transport timing matters, so check your route before applying.

• Draft subcontract agreements and payment schedules
• Value variations and prepare claims under JBCC or GCC conditions
• Use measuring software to do take-offs from PDF and CAD drawings
• Prepare the final account at the end of the project
• Get quotes from subcontractors and compare them line by line
• Track budget against actual cost and flag overruns early
• Price tenders using supplier quotes, labour rates and plant costs

• BSc, BTech or Diploma in Quantity Surveying
• At least 3 years of QS work in private practice or with a contractor
• Understanding of JBCC Principal Building Agreement clauses
• Accurate with numbers and able to back up every figure you certify

• SACQSP registration as a Professional or Candidate QS
• Estimating software experience on top of Excel

• Paid SACQSP registration fees and CPD courses
• Study support for an honours degree
• Travel allowance for site visits
