Junior Safety Officer (Housing Projects)

You'll keep the site legal and the workers safe for the building contractor in Bellville. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

You'll report in Bellville. Relocation is not covered for this one. Weekend work is on a roster, so you won't be on every weekend.

• Investigate incidents and near misses and report them on time
• Write and review risk assessments and safe work method statements
• Compile and maintain the site health and safety file under the Construction Regulations 2014
• Inspect scaffolds, excavations and edge protection daily
• Audit subcontractor safety files before they start work
• Keep appointment letters and competency certificates in the file

• You write clear reports in English
• First Aid Level 1 at least
• Confident enough to stop unsafe work, even when the programme is tight
• SACPCMP registration as a Construction Health and Safety Officer
• SAMTRAC or an NQF-accredited health and safety qualification

• Fall protection planner training
• Experience on renewable energy or high-rise projects
• Diploma in Safety Management

• Travel and site allowances
• Laptop and data for reporting
• Paid SACPCMP renewal and CPD

• Name the kind of projects you have covered, like roads, housing or wind farms. Clients want sector experience.
• Bring a sample risk assessment or safety file index you drew up (remove client names). It shows your work better than a list.
