Junior Safety Officer (Housing Projects)

Every person goes home in one piece. That is the job on this renewable energy construction site in Sasolburg. Someone who likes a bit of variety, but also likes doing things the right way, will enjoy this.

You'll report in Sasolburg. Relocation is not covered for this one. Most weeks are 45 hours, in line with the BCEA.

• Investigate incidents and near misses and report them on time
• Audit subcontractor safety files before they start work
• Inspect scaffolds, excavations and edge protection daily
• Compile and maintain the site health and safety file under the Construction Regulations 2014
• Check that fall protection plans are in place for work at height

• Good understanding of the OHS Act and Construction Regulations 2014
• SAMTRAC or an NQF-accredited health and safety qualification
• You write clear reports in English
• Confident enough to stop unsafe work, even when the programme is tight
• SACPCMP registration as a Construction Health and Safety Officer

• Clear growth path to a construction health and safety agent role

• Laptop and data for reporting

• Put your SACPCMP registration number and category first. Many CVs without it are rejected without being read.
• Bring a sample risk assessment or safety file index you drew up (remove client names). It shows your work better than a list.
