Junior Safety Officer (Housing Projects)

Every person goes home in one piece. That is the job on this high-rise residential project in Tembisa. It's a practical job: you'll see what you got done before you go home.

This post is Tembisa-based, with most of your time spent at a high-rise residential project. Start is planned for the beginning of next month.

• Investigate incidents and near misses and report them on time
• Prepare monthly safety statistics for the client's agent
• Check that fall protection plans are in place for work at height
• Compile and maintain the site health and safety file under the Construction Regulations 2014
• Inspect scaffolds, excavations and edge protection daily
• Audit subcontractor safety files before they start work
• Write and review risk assessments and safe work method statements

• First Aid Level 1 at least
• Good understanding of the OHS Act and Construction Regulations 2014
• SAMTRAC or an NQF-accredited health and safety qualification
• Confident enough to stop unsafe work, even when the programme is tight
• SACPCMP registration as a Construction Health and Safety Officer
• You write clear reports in English

• Put your SACPCMP registration number and category first. Many CVs without it are rejected without being read.
• Name the kind of projects you have covered, like roads, housing or wind farms. Clients want sector experience.
